Portraits, especially family portraits, help us focus on what is truly important...
Since pictures are handed down from generation to generation, I feel it is important to have more than just an identification photo. A true portrait will covey considerably more information about the person, couple, or family than the usual identification photograph.
To accomplish this, we move out of the studio setting into an environment that is reflective of your life, work, or recreational interests. Then we add objects that help to tell your story more completely. When appropriate, I will encourage you to interact with each other or with the environment. the resulting photographs, I believe, will have much more meaning not only to you, but to your children and grandchildren as well. This approach, however, requires much more time and effort than a standard studio shot. We could spend several hours together in the process of creating images with which you will be really happy.
While I will encourage you to consider different settings, poses, props, locations, etc., the final decision will be yours. My goal is to please you to the best of my ability. That means I must make any suggestions I think will enhance your portrait. It does not mean that I have to impose my thinking on you. I will photograph you in the manner you wish.
